August Favourites + Haul

Postpartum hair loss is really starting to get to me! I lost so much fullness and now my hair just feel limp and weak. So to change that I went and bought the number one best seller hair product called Olaplex in No.3. This product is a god sent! It was recently released to the general public to use, but a few years ago you could only get it on your hair at a salon; I feel like I could have done a whole blog post on Olaplex alone. No. 3 is The Bond Perfector which means it is NOT a conditioning treatment OR a leave-in treatment. It is meant to be shampooed out of your hair, and it must process for a minimum of 10 minutes, unless your hair is severely damaged you are to leave on for 20 minutes! Once a week is suggested for average hair, but again if it is severely damaged 2-3 times a week is recommended with your favourite moisture and protein treatments.

Along with my Olaplex Treatment, I needed new shampoo and conditioner and thought I would give these a try from Goldwell's Rich Repair line. I loved the smell, which may be weird but it reminded me of getting my hair done in the salon. The Rich Repair Shampoo instantly reconstructs, and strengthens your hair from breakage as well as pumping it full of shine, while being as gentle as water. The Rich Repair Conditioner instantly increases comb ability and restores the natural elasticity, reduces hair breakage and of course these both are products that are built for being in-salon but now you can bring them home too!

After shampooing, conditioning and treating my hair I need a little styling product! One line I have always been obsessed with is Big Sexy Hair. These never fail to amaze me and have always stayed true to what their product says it will due. Texture is something new to me, I have always had full Big* hair that never needed any products like that and I mostly stuck to oils for moisture. But the whole hair after a baby thing has been really turning my world upside down..SO I got Big Sexy Hair's  Full Bloom Long-Lasting Thickening Refreshing Spray does exactly what it says, and so does the Push Up Dry Thickening Spray. Both make my hair so big, and it does exactly what I want them to do. EXCEPT* I always feel like with any thickening spray they tend to leave your hair feeling heavy, and sticky.

I have been asked a million times what I use for my face? and recently I have been OBSESSED with Drunk Elephant. This kit was "developed to balance and reset your skin to a healthy, youthful, and glowing state", and they come in a waterproof rubber case just incase of a spill. This amazing kit that I am just in love with comes with everything from a Jelly Cleanser, Eye Serum to a Luxury Facial Oil and even a Physical Defense SPF 30! Oh and another biggie about these products from Drunk Elephant is that this company only uses clean ingredients that either "directly benefit the skin's health or support the integrity and effectiveness" of their formulation. They are formulated without sulfates SLS and SLES, paragons, formaldehydes, coal tar, tricocarban and they have the Clean Seal.

I have been obsessed with making my house smell nice, I mean who doesn't want their home to smell good? I recently purchased two wallflower fragrance plugs from Bath & Body Works. I bought two, one for the front foyer and one for our bedroom and the plugs that I bought are the double version which switches the fragrance every two days, so this way your nose won't get used to the same smell all the time. While I was at Bath & Body Works, they were having one of their 5 for $25 sales for hand soaps and I purchased a few good ones.

Penelope's Favourite Books at 5 months old

Tuesday, 14 August 2018

I made myself a promise that I would share Penelope’s favourite books as soon as I thought she showed some interest in them.
Since she was born we would read her books, her newborn self would watch mommy and daddy’s hands change the pages, while she would drift off to sleep.
Now, at 5 months she is like a completely different baby. She is genuinely interested in books, and even thou she may not understand everything yet.. She does love starting at her book shelf while she is getting changed in the morning. Our routine now includes reading a book in the morning after she gets changed and before she gets fed. Then again at night before her bedtime, we try to read a different book for her.

Reading is the easiest way to develop your Childs brain, and when you read your child the same book over and over again it is a great way to increase your child’s language development.

COCO -  My first Coco Chanel Little People, BIG DREAMS
This was a fun book I found at Winner's when I was looking at the children section. I saw another one called Amelia, which was about Amelia Earhart. I love fashion and thought this would be a nice decor piece as well as a fun book to read to Penelope.

Say Daddy - by Michael Shoulders and Illustrated by Teri Weidner
This was one of the first books Penelope was given by her Aunt Michelle. I love listening to Tony read it to her at night. We are still waiting for her to say her first word and I am hopping its "Ma-Ma", but I'd be proud of anything she said.

Guess How Much I Love You - Sam McBratney and illustrated by Anita Jeram
This is a MUST for any nursery!  It is such an adorable story of two hares, Big Nutbrown Hare and Little Nutbrown Hare who tell each other how much they love one another.

The Pout-Pout Fish - by Deborah Diesen Pictures by Dan Hanna
This is one of my favourite books to read Penelope! It is one of those books adults look forward to reading, and the pictures are amazing. P really loves fish, and we enjoy reading her books of fish.

I found this Language Development PDF which was created by Carissa Stuck from, she is a speech-language pathologist who also has son and a great blog and you can check out her work HERE

Let me know what books your children love at the moment! I love adding to Penelope's library. Also what books are you loving right now!?

Is it really a boat trip without someone falling asleep in the cubby? Its hard not too, when your literally getting rocked to bed by the waves, and when your listening to the sound of the water lapping against the bow of the boat.

We woke up at home on a Saturday morning. Relaxed and ready to meet up with my parents to go for another awesome boat trip on Georgian Bay. Most of the morning was spent trolling along the West Shore of Penetang Harbour, in hopes of catching some perch. I didn’t pay much attention to the amount of fish they caught or what kind of fish they were, personally I would rather not make a personal connection to my food like that.

Lunch time, we kept trolling to the “Worlds Famous Dock Lunch” where I split a (bad choice) large poutine and a mini hot dog with Tony and I had no doubt that I would get a tummy ache shortly after.

One of my favourite moments yesterday was this moment, when Penelope realized she could kick her legs back and forth in the water, before she was still kind of unsure of this new element. Each time she would grow braver and braver, now I think she looks forward to dipping her toes in the cool water. It just makes my heart so happy watching my parents with my daughter, when I think back to when I was younger I would dream of this moment and think that this is the moment of true happiness.

The next morning we woke bright and early, 5:30 am to be exact so Tone and my dad could go fishing. Those two have a love for fishing like no other, to be honest I could never be with a man who didn't like to fish because our family is all about that fishing life.

As always, they came home with their catch of the day which was a salmon each. I love showing Penelope new things every day, today we got her to touch the fish and feel the slime and talk to her about this beautiful creature who gave its life so we could eat. I want her to have the same respect Tony and I have for the fish we catch.

He was so proud of his fish. Penelope loved it I promise, even thou in this picture she looks like she's trying to squirm her way out of there.

This August has been good to us, in all its warm air and water that is forever refreshing. I am at peace with things in my life right now, more than I have ever been before. I feel strongly that as a mom I am doing things the right way for us as a family, that Tony and my relationship is stronger than ever before and we grow more in love with each other and Penelope every single day.
I know that things won't always be this easy, and that the green crisp leaves will reluctantly turn to golds and reds soon.. but right now I am living in this happy moment with my little family and I could not be grateful.

Its Friday! I am finally getting #thedailymoments blog post up, and if you didn't know Steph Pullock who is an amazing photographer started a tag where other bloggers, and photographers, mamas and who ever else wants to join along. These are moments from my day, as a stay at home mama, wife (to-be .. HINT, HINT...) and legit the most exciting person ever (kidding)...

1. I have wanted a headboard since we moved in to our home. Finally, I got one and I couldn't be happier.
2 & 3. I couldn't pick just one photo, because she looked so happy in the blurry one! I love her so much.
4. The calm before the storm. I am the happiest when I can stop and enjoy the simple moments.
5. OMG, Penelope is in a mood today! She is crying and whining constantly.
6. The only way I can get her to stop crying. I never thought I would be that mom who puts her baby in front of a tv, but there are just some days where you HAVE to do what you can.

Next Friday I will try to have another #thedailymoments up on the blog.
